THE NATURE OF GOD
Lesson One

The purpose of this study is to present various scriptures for you to study over 
until you are fully convinced of the nature of God according to what He says of 
Himself in accordance with His written word. When reviewing the four various 
thoughts of the nature of God, it is obvious that, since the views are 
contradictory, at least three of the above views are incorrect and are not 
representative of the God of the Bible. Three of the views presented are 
presenting another god who can only offer a false salvation.  This is why this 
study is crucial and requires great care in studying.   

Let us begin with the study of the word "one" and how it is to be properly 
applied in the reading of the scriptures. The word "one" can be applied as a 
numerical one, such as 1 apple. Another application of the word "one" can be 
applied in the sense as one in purpose or in unity. For example, the usage of 
the word "one" as in "all in one accord" means of the same mind or being in 
agreement with a numerical one belief. The word "one" can also be applied in 
meaning a numerical single person or as a single group of "one" that may also be 
used in a plural form that includes two or more persons within that numerical 
one single group who are in agreement with one another. 

Keeping this information about the term "one" in mind, let's use a few verses 
from the Bible that use the word "one" and see what would be the proper usage of 
the word "one" within the context of the verse. 

For example, as you read each of the following verses, If you believe the word 
"one" is to be used only as in the numerical sense, place the number (1) as your 
answer after the word "one" in the verse.  If you believe the word "one" is to 
be used in the sense of as one in unity, place the letter "U" as your answer 
after the word one in the verse. If you believe the word "one" can be applied in 
both senses, place the letter "B" behind the word "one" as your answer.  

Example A: "Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:" (Deut.6:4) is the 
verse and then your answer will look like this. "Hear, O Israel: The LORD our 
God is one (1) LORD:"  (Deut.6:4) 

We answered with the numerical one because there is numerically only One God. 

Example B:  "There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, 
there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one (U) in Christ Jesus." 
(Gal.3:28) 

We answered with (U) because this is speaking of various groups of people who 
have become as one because they are united together as one in Christ Jesus. 

Example C: "Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall 
cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one (B) flesh." (Gen 2:24) 

We answered this with (B) because although the man is an individual person, he 
would be as the numerical one in the sense that he is one person. The same as 
with the woman, she is one person in the numerical sense and both the man and 
the woman are still individual persons but become one as in Unity and do not 
lose their individual identity.

following passages and put them in your word processing program so as to make it 
easier to go back to make changes in your answers or merely print out this page 
to use. Your answers to these verses are not required to be turned in, this is 
just for your own personal study.

"And the LORD shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one

"And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth: for there 
is one [_____] God; and there is none other but he:" (Mark 12:32) 

"Seeing it is one [_____] God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, 
and uncircumcision through faith." (Rom.3:30)

"But to us there is but one [_____] God, the Father, of whom are all things, and 
we in him; and one [_____] Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by 
him." (1Cor.8:6)

"One [_____] God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in 
you all." (Eph.4:6)

"For there is one [_____] God, and one [_____] mediator between God and men, the 
man Christ Jesus;" (1Tim.2:5)

"For by one [_____] Spirit are we all baptized into one [_____] body, whether we 
be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink 
into one [_____] Spirit." (1Cor 12:13)

"There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is

"Thou believest that there is one [_____] God; thou doest well: the devils also 
believe, and tremble." (James 2:19)

"And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel;

"Now a mediator is not a mediator of one[_____] , but God is one[_____]." 
(Gal.3:20) 

"As concerning therefore the eating of those things that are offered in 
sacrifice unto idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that 
there is none other God but one[_____]." (1Cor.8:4)

"One [_____] Lord, one [_____] faith, one [_____] baptism," (Eph.4:5)

"Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto 
his wife: and they shall be one [_____] flesh." (Gen 2:24)

"But the stranger that dwelleth with you shall be unto you as one [_____] born 
among you, and thou shalt love him as thyself; for ye were strangers in the land 
of Egypt: I am the LORD your God." (Lev.19:34)

"So all the men of Israel were gathered against the city, knit together as one 
[_____] man. (Judge 20:11)

"It came even to pass, as the trumpeters and singers were as one [_____], to 
make one [_____] sound to be heard in praising and thanking the LORD;" 
(2Chron.5:13)

"And when the seventh month was come, and the children of Israel were in the 
cities, the people gathered themselves together as one [_____] man to 
Jerusalem." (Ezra 3:1)

"I and my Father are one [_____]." (John 10:30)

"And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to 
thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, 
that they may be one[_____], as we are." (John 17:11)

"That they all may be one [_____]; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, 
that they also may be one [_____] in us: that the world may believe that thou 
hast sent me." (John 17:21)

"And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one 
[_____], even as we are one[_____]:" (John 17:22) 

"For we being many are one [_____] bread, and one [_____] body: for we are all 
partakers of that one [_____] bread." (1Cor.10:17) 

"For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the 
Holy Ghost: and these three are one [_____]." (1 John 5:7) (NOTE:  If you are 
reading the NIV, this verse may only appear in a footnote form, not in the text 
itself.)

"But be not ye called Rabbi: for one [_____] is your Master, even Christ; and 
all ye are brethren." (Matthew 23:8)

"And call no man your father upon the earth: for one [_____] is your Father, 
which is in heaven." (Matthew 23:9)

beliefs of who God is and write a short summary explaining which of the four 
basic belief systems above best fits your understanding of the application of 
the word "one" and why.
